Fatima Fertilizer recently celebrated agricultural excellence at the Sarsabz Ki Jeet Wheat Yield Competition Prize Distribution Ceremony. Farmers using Sarsabz Nitrophos and Calcium Ammonium Nitrate captured the top three positions at the provincial level. They also claimed 119 out of 120 district-level positions in the Punjab Wheat Yield Competition 2025-26, which was officially announced by the Government of Punjab.

The prize distribution ceremony brought together key agricultural figures and government officials to honor the hard work of local cultivators. Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research, Mr. Rana Tanveer Hussain, addressed the ceremony virtually. Additional Chief Secretary Punjab, Mr. Iftikhar Ali Sahoo, Secretary Agriculture Punjab, Mr. Shakeel Ahmad Mian, and President of Pakistan Kissan Ittehad, Mr. Khalid Khokhar, attended the event among other dignitaries.

Top Provincial Winners and District Achievements

The competition showcased extraordinary agricultural production across Punjab. Sarsabz farmers secured the first position in 39 out of 40 districts alongside sweeping all three provincial positions. Mr. Sajjad Hussain from Muzaffargarh secured the first provincial position with a yield of 69 maunds and 39.4 kilograms per acre. Mr. Shafiq Ahmed from Attock followed closely in second place with 69 maunds and 39.1 kilograms per acre. Mr. Muhammad Asghar from Rahim Yar Khan secured the third position with a yield of 69 maunds and 24.1 kilograms per acre.

To reward these exceptional harvests, the ceremony featured significant prizes for the winners. Three tractors were awarded to the provincial winners as top prizes. At the district level, organizers presented Honda CD 70 motorcycles and LED TVs to all successful district-level position holders.

Government Perspectives on Food Security and Agriculture

Federal Minister Mr. Rana Tanveer Hussain congratulated Fatima Fertilizer and all the winning farmers during his virtual address. He stated that increasing wheat production and improving crop yields are essential for strengthening Pakistan food security. The government remains committed to ensuring the procurement of every grain of wheat in coordination with provincial governments. Officials are also introducing new initiatives to improve access to quality seeds, modern technology, and agricultural financing. He praised Fatima Fertilizer for promoting balanced fertilizer use and providing vital advisory services.

Additional Chief Secretary Punjab, Mr. Iftikhar Ali Sahoo, highlighted that farmers form the backbone of the national economy and food security. He noted that the government supports cultivators through farmer-friendly policies and timely agricultural initiatives. Mr. Sahoo highlighted the announced wheat support price of Rs 4,500 per maund. He also mentioned the Rs 150 billion in interest-free loans extended to one million farmers through the Kissan Card since October 15, which helps farmers acquire quality seeds and fertilizers on time.

The Role of Balanced Crop Nutrition

Director Marketing and Sales at Fatima Fertilizer, Ms. Rabel Sadozai, shared insights on the long-term impact of these farming practices. She noted that in the previous year of 2024-25, Sarsabz users similarly claimed all three provincial positions and 97 of 120 district positions. The results from the current season reflect a clear improvement and demonstrate the true potential of balanced crop nutrition. Using Sarsabz products helps cultivators make informed farming decisions to maximize their land potential.

The competition results underscore a striking contrast between modern techniques and traditional averages. While successful Sarsabz farmers recorded yields of approximately 69 to 70 maunds per acre, the indicative national average stands at around 33 maunds per acre. Winning farmers effectively doubled the standard national yield from a single acre of land. Fatima Fertilizer continues to support these outcomes through specialized agricultural advisory services and soil testing facilities.

Understanding Wheat Cultivation and Fertilizer Impact

Wheat remains a staple crop and a cornerstone of national food supplies across Pakistan. Achieving optimal harvests requires careful management of soil nutrients at different growth stages. Nitrogen, phosphorus, and calcium play vital roles in root development, grain formation, and overall plant health. Products like Nitrophos and Calcium Ammonium Nitrate provide targeted nutrition that helps crops withstand environmental stresses and disease.

Agricultural extension services and private sector partnerships help bridge the knowledge gap for rural communities. Soil testing allows cultivators to apply precise nutrient quantities rather than guessing requirements. Educational initiatives and competitive programs encourage the adoption of these science-backed methods across different regions of Punjab.
