Meta released a new artificial intelligence pet application named Waddle World, allowing users to adopt, feed, and interact with a pixel creature inside a retro 16-bit environment. The corporation released Waddle World initially in the Philippines across iOS and Android platforms, though officials have not verified release dates for other regions.
Social media consultant Matt Navarra discovered the program initially, characterizing the software as a combination of Tamagotchi and ChatGPT. Players select an animal companion, nurture its development, and engage with it via brief daily check-ins.
🚨 Meta launches AI Tamagotchi! 🐣 Meet Waddle World, an AI-powered virtual pet that: • 🧠 Remembers your conversations • 📝 Creates illustrated journals • 💌 Sends personalised postcards • 🎮 Lets you feed it and play games Currently available in the Philippines. https://t.co/S8WJJFNE9R

The application provides multiple interactive functions. Participants can recount their daily experiences through text or voice inputs, prompting the companion to listen and compose a journal entry accompanied by a drawing. The software also includes brief mini-games that require only minutes to complete, alongside weekly email summaries generated from gathered user preferences.
Meta described the experience in official materials by stating:
"Waddle World is a cozy 16-bit world where your pixel pet lives. Hatch a virtual pet, visit whenever you like, and let it get to know you. No pressure, no streaks to protect, no scores to chase, just a warm little escape in the cracks of your day," the app's description reads.
The organization explicitly clarifies that the software functions neither as a chatbot, an assistant, nor a productivity instrument. This specific positioning arrives while OpenAI and Character.AI face legal challenges concerning reported damages to adolescents using companion artificial intelligence programs.
The new release could serve as a forerunner for a physical Tamagotchi-style device driven by the Muse artificial intelligence system from Meta. The firm currently operates other artificial intelligence software, including Pocket for vibe-coding games and Vibes for video generation.
