Samsung introduced the W27 in China on October 29, releasing a high-end variation of its Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra smartphone that features gold details and an upscale look. The new foldable device comes with an 8-inch inner screen, a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy processor, a 200MP primary camera, and satellite connection features. The starting price for the Samsung W27 is about $2,850, and it is sold in two storage options.

Design and Display

The Samsung W27 uses a two-tone aesthetic with red and blue color choices, both featuring gold highlights. The gold coating runs along the frame, hinge, back camera unit, and camera lens borders. The back side also displays Samsung's well-known gold Heart to the World symbol, linked to its high-end W-series phones in China. Buyers can choose between Jixia Red and Jihu Blue finishes. Samsung placed Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 3 on the front screen and back panel for better toughness. The mobile device has a 6.5-inch cover screen and an 8-inch bending inner screen. Both use Dynamic AMOLED 2X technology with a refresh rate reaching up to 120Hz and a maximum brightness of 3,000 nits. The W27 measures 4.1mm in thickness when open and 8.9mm when closed, weighing 215g. Samsung also sells the phone in a collector package containing a 45W charger, a Kevlar protective case, a charging wire, and additional items.

Internals and Software

Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy processor runs the Samsung W27, matching the chip found in the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra. The phone includes 16GB of RAM alongside 512GB or 1TB of internal storage. It operates on One UI 9 built on Android 17. Most internal hardware matches the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, though Samsung added satellite connectivity to the W27. This capability lets users place satellite calls and transmit messages via China's Tiantong satellite network when standard mobile service is absent. Additional connection options feature 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC, and USB-C.

Cameras

A triple-camera arrangement sits on the rear of the Samsung W27, anchored by a 200MP main sensor featuring optical image stabilization. A 50MP ultrawide camera and a 10MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom accompany the main camera. Two 10MP selfie cameras are also included, with one positioned on the outer display and another on the inner screen. The back camera setup handles video recording up to 8K resolution at 30 frames per second.

Battery and Pricing

Inside the Samsung W27 is a 5,000mAh battery supporting 45W wired fast charging and 20W wireless charging. Samsung provides the device in two configurations. The 16GB RAM and 512GB storage model costs roughly $2,850, while the larger 16GB RAM and 1TB storage edition is priced around $3,300. The smartphone debuted in China on October 29, with pre-orders and reservations starting immediately. Regular sales begin on November 13, 2026. Samsung has not shared any plans to release the W27 outside of China.
