The Balochistan government dismissed another 72 doctors for repeated absenteeism after rolling out an artificial intelligence (AI) attendance monitoring system in the provincial health department. This latest move lifts the total number of staff dismissed for attendance breaches to 200.
Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti posted on X that the AI-driven system is pinpointing workers who consistently miss duty. He noted the government has deducted Rs410 million from public-sector salaries because of attendance and disciplinary infractions.
Bugti said roughly 11,000 government employees have been served notices demanding explanations for attendance breaches, and disciplinary actions are in progress against an additional 800 staff members. He emphasized that public servants must fulfill their duties and will not receive pay without attending work.
The provincial administration launched the AI-based monitoring tool to boost attendance, enhance accountability and aid the provision of public services, especially in health care.
